Dentistry for Children
Dentistry in Elwood is a suburban practice offering comprehensive care to all members of the community. Our friendly, close-knit team has plenty of experience with families and children and welcome new patients and families.
This family operated business is run by Mark and Elizabeth Peddey and is located in leafy Elwood. As parents of 3 grown-up children Mark and Elizabeth understand the anxieties sometimes experienced in the dental setting, amongst children and adults alike, as well as those with special needs. Taking the time to understand and empathise with our patients, listening to what they want and assisting in clarification of what they need is foremost, and underpins the dental care offered at Dentistry in Elwood.
Introducing children to the dentist
It is generally recommended that children be exposed to dentistry early and in positive ways. The first visit for a young child should be as informal as a quiet play in our comfortable waiting area, a ride in the chair, an opportunity to have their teeth counted and a conversation with parents on teething, feeding, dietary advice and a discussion of any dental concerns. These simple, relaxing experiences reinforce the perception of the dental experience as one of health and well-being and provide a valuable foundation for children retaining healthy teeth for the rest of their lives.
Older children and adolescents
At Dentistry in Elwood we recommend that all of our patients attend regular continuing care visits with our dental hygienist and therapist — Bronny and Natalia, who both have families of their own. Their personal commitment to oral health care and their professional expertise ensures the best care for you and your family. Mouth guards for sport, dietary advice and counseling on matters such as sport drinks are only part of the service.
Regular cleans, fluoride treatment, X-rays, fissure sealants and minor restorations are managed as well as referrals for specialist orthodontic care if and when necessary.
